Be Still: A book of prayers, images and blessings
By Rev Iain Gow.
Illustrated by Nat Tate
We all need a place of sanctuary for our souls, an oasis where we can be refreshed, healed and nurtured by Christ, our Lord and friend, who said, “Come all you who are thirsty, and drink from me.” My hope is that through these prayers, images and blessings, you will discover anew the well-spring of God’s love for yourself and your neighbour; and find a deeper relationship with your Saviour.

“[These prayers] are a breath of fresh divine air, blown in our direction on the breeze of a common humanity, a reminder that the way of Christ makes our hearts tender as it strengthens our souls.”
— Rt Revd Adrian Newman (Bishop of Stepney) Be Still: A book of blessings, images and prayers

Author’s Note
“Be Still” was my first book, so it holds a special place in my heart. It came out of my time with the monastic community, Without Walls, and we used the prayers, blessings and illustrations as part of our daily praying life. Since then, this book has travelled to many corners of the globe.
I have found that people resonated with them whether they were people of faith or not. A hospital in Auckland used them widely, and people of all types of spirituality found them helpful in their time of need.
The prayers are timeless as they speak to the human condition, to the hope that we all might one day, be more fully human, fully alive. I hope that in reading them, you might find hope for yourself and others whom you love.”
